Which way to Spain?

Becoming an ex-pat has crossed some people’s minds especially after a particularly ugly start to the US presidential election.  Just for fun, I have given some thought as to where I would go.

Spain is my choice.  Sight unseen for me, but I have family that has been.  Here are my reasons:

#1 – I am a huge fan of naps!  Madrid and Barcelona have mostly moved on in favor of full work days, but la siesta remains prominent in smaller towns and cities throughout the country.  I’m good with smaller towns and cities.  Spain and It’s Culture

#2 – I love the movie The Way.  It definitely holds a spot in my top 3 favorite movies of all time.  Camino de Santiago is a trek I’d like to take.  I’m thinking the Northern way.

#3 – I enjoy Salvador Dali’s art (born in Figueres, Spain).  I also think he’s pretty darn funny!  Check him out on the Ed Sullivan Show, “What’s my line?”  (Don’t worry, I don’t know what is being said in the beginning of this clip either…keep watching)

#4 -Tapas! According to the Lonely Planet, it’s impossible to lay eyes on stunning San Sebastian, Spain and not fall madly in love.  It’s a city filled with people who love to indulge – and with Michelin stars apparently falling from the heavens onto its restaurants, not to mention pintxo (tapas) culture almost unmatched anywhere else in Spain, San Sebastian frequently tops lists of the world’s best places to eat.  San Sebastian

#5 – My family, especially my mom loved Spain and I tend to love the same things.  That is a good enough reason for me.

#6 – 34 days of paid vacation leave.  THIS IS HOW I’M FEELING ABOUT THAT. (Mom, click the hyperlink)

#7 – I can’t think of anything else.  Where would you go?

  1. I think I’d go to France, I’d eat bread, cheese, and wine, and see the Eiffel Tower, definitely on my bucket list, 2018 I’m checking Hawaii off my list 😁
